71st Rebulic day celebration
Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, Kolkata commemorated the 71st Republic Day in a befitting manner. The national flag was hoisted by Brigadier Chand Wankhade, Brigadier Aviation, Indian Army Eastern Command Headquarters followed by the national anthem.
The cultural programme commenced with the welcome songs “SHONKOCHER O BIHOBOLOTA” and “AYE WATAN” rendered by the School Choir. Following the welcome address of the Principal, Joyoti Chaudhuri, a short play / skit in Bengali “DIPANTORER BIPLOB”, in Hindi “SANGVIDHAAN ME GANDHI DARSHAN” and in English “DR APJ ABDUL KALAM” were enacted by the students. A book titled ‘Time & Tide: The Ballad of the Kolkata Port’ was launched by the Chief Guest Brigadier Chand Wankhade. The book is written on evolution of Kolkata Port by the students of classes VIII and IX and published in-house. The Chief Guest Brigadier Chand Wankhade in his address to the gathering delved into the history of Indian struggle for independence and how everyone must strive to preserve her sovereignty. The programme ended with the ‘Vote of thanks’ by the Vice Head Girl.

Senior Annual Sports Meet 2019 – 2020
The 17th Sports Meet of Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata, was held on 7th January, 2020, at the Gitanjali Stadium. In her welcome address, Principal Joyoti Chaudhuri encouraged the participants and stressed on the importance of such activities. The senior school choir belted out their rendition of “The World is Ours”. Mr Alok Tibrewal, Pro VC, DPS Ruby Park, addressed the audience stressing on the importance of participation in sports events. This was followed by the flag hoisting, march past, oath taking by the six houses of the school and lighting of the torch. Mr. Compton Dutta, the ex-captain of Mohun Bagan, was the chief guest for the occasion. Also present on the occasion were the guests of honour, Mr Subhabrata Chaudhuri, Director of Science City and Ms Joyita Majumder, Principal of Ruby Park Public School. The aerobics and karate display by the students of classes VII to XI left the audience mesmerized. In the track and field events, the young athletes were encouraged with loud cheers and thunderous applause. As the curtains came down on an eventful day, every participant left the field feeling like an achiever.

Saraswati Puja 2020 Celebration
‘Vasant Panchami’ is very close to the hearts of all the Indians. On this auspicious day, the management, faculty and students of DPS Ruby Park Kolkata, came together to celebrate Saraswati Puja and worship Goddess Saraswati- the goddess of knowledge, music, art and culture, and seek her blessings. India has always been a culturally rich nation and we, here at DPS Ruby Park Kolkata, value our traditions and impart a sense of respect towards it.
Bright colours and beautiful flowers were a treat to the eye on that day but the attention was mainly on the eco-friendly method of decoration. All the materials used were bio-degradable and recyclable (all hand made by students under the guidance of the Art Department). Students of classes IX – XII attended the ‘Puja’ where a special ‘Havan’ was held for the students of classes X & XII appearing for the forthcoming board exams.
Every corner of the school campus was decorated by the students. They made beautiful and artistic ‘alpanas’ to enhance the aesthetic essence of the occasion. Talented students sang ‘bhakti-geet’ in the name of Goddess Saraswati.
After the ‘Puja’ and ‘Havan’, ‘prasad’ was distributed among all present followed by ‘Bhog’. Members of the teaching faculty, administrative staff and students came together to make the event a memorable one. An ambience of tranquility and worship spread in the air in the entire venue.
Christmas Special Assembly
To celebrate the yuletide spirit in the most extravagant way, the entire family of DPS, Ruby Park came together to put up a Christmas Special assembly on 19th December in the Annex AV hall of the school.
The programme began with the school choir welcoming everyone with their beautiful rendition of welcome songs accompanied by a short performance followed by a welcome address by Principal ma’am. The Christmas choir was followed by the nativity play, The New Star, where we saw the Lord himself narrate the story of his birth. The show proceeded with the colourful and vibrant dance performance followed by the second part of the programme which was in continuity with the first part of the play where the angels are all engaged in “A Mission” to search for Jesus. The play ends on a happy note where Jesus tells us how he is a part of each and every living being and will always be a part of the world till we keep on loving and respecting each other. The programme concluded with the school choir singing an array of bright and soulful Christmas Carols followed by a vote of thanks. Later there were tiny santas going around in the primary section distributing candies.
Awareness Drive on World Hunger
The Changemakers Club of Delhi Public School Ruby Park conducted an awareness drive on the grim issue of combating world hunger on 24th October ’19. The primary reason being poverty. Spoilage and war are some other reasons that were mentioned. The initiative was supported by volunteers of Robin Hood Army, Mr Zahid Kamal and Ms. Ayushi Jha. Mr.Kamal beckoned the Changemakers to join hands together and get more people connected to their 5 chapters in Kolkata.
An eminent chef from a reputed 5 star hotel spread awareness regarding minimizing food wastage. He also enthused the students by presenting a small food demo.
The event concluded on an optimistic note aiming to prevent the mismanagement of food.
Durga Puja Special Assembly
A Durga Puja Special Assembly was held at Delhi Public School, Ruby Park to usher in the season of festivities. Sri Subrata Bakshi, Former MP, Trinamool Congress, Mr. Subhabrata Chaudhuri, Director of Science City and Pro Vice Chairman of DPS, Ruby Park, Mr. Alok Tibrewal graced the occasion along with other dignitaries. Senior citizens from the old age home Seba were special invitees. The program began with the lighting of the lamp followed by the Welcome Song ‘Shishire Shishire Sharodo Akashe Bhorer Agomoni’. The superb presentation of the Skit ‘Matrirupeno Sansthita’ enthralled the audience. The skit showed the diverse ways in which Devi Durga is worshipped in different states of India. The spectacular presentation of grace and grandeur in the dance depicting the nine manifestations of Durga – Nobo Durga was appreciated by all.

Workshop on I-SENSO Robotics
A workshop on I-SENSO Robotics (Autonomous Robots) was organised at Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata by Build My Project in association with Techfest, IIT Bombay and Make X, an international level Robotics Championship. The workshop was conducted over a period of two days, 29th August and 30th August, 2019 in the Audio Visual Hall of the school.
The workshop saw the enthusiastic participation of 122 students from classes IX to XII. Day 1 saw the students of classes IX and X respond enthusiastically to the various topics that were covered by the workshop while the students of Classes XI and XII attended the workshop on Day 2. The workshop dealt with the topics of the Basics of Embedded Electronics and The Arduino Platform. Several projects like Traffic Monitoring System, Home automation, Theft Detection System, among others, were given to the students and they were provided with a robotics kit to work on the same.
The workshop was followed by an interactive session where students’ queries were answered. An evaluation of the workshop was also conducted. The participants were given certificates of Excellence from IIT Bombay. The response of the students to the entire session made it an invaluable experience for all concerned.
Inter DPS Dance Festival “NRITYANJALI” 2019
Inter Delhi Public School Dance Festival NRITYANJALI 2019 (Eastern zone) held on 3rd August at Delhi Public School NAZIRA.
Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata secured 1st Runner Up in the Inter Delhi Public School Dance Competition and Best COSTUME in this Competition.
Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata qualified for the National which will be held on November at Delhi Public School Greater Noida.
