Independence Day 2018

DPS Ruby Park continued its tradition of celebrating Independence Day with a plethora of events. The day’s proceedings started with an auspicious note with the hoisting of the national flag by Chief Guest,Brigadier N.S Mukherjee.The school choir sang a medley of patriotic songs followed by a song and dance performance put up by the little gems of the Bulbul Girl Scouts. The English Department came up with an innovative presentation of a poetry collage consisting of self composed poems accompanied by a short video,highlighting on India’s journey through the years.The Bengali department put up a short skit on the Santhal Rebellion of 1855 while the Hindi department’s skit depicted the life of a soldier.The programme reached its fitting culmination with a stunning dance performance to the modern rendition of a classic patriotic song.The proceedings ended on a pleasant note with the Chief Guest’s speech and the delivery of a vote of thanks by the Head Boy of the school.

Report on Investiture Ceremony

Scholar Badge Special Assembly : A Report Class II to Class IV

The Scholar Badge Assembly for classes 2, 3 and 4 was conducted on 23rd June 2018 at the AV annexe auditorium. The programme was held to celebrate the hard work and effort of the students in the last session 2017 – 18, where they had fared excellently well. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp along with a medley of melodious songs sung by the school choir. The programme went ahead with Principal Ma’am’s speech where she discussed the performance of the outgoing students of DPS, Ruby Park in the board examinations. It was a proud moment not only for her but also for the teachers, students and the parents present there. Following Principal Ma’am’s address, the girls of class 4 presented a colourful dance performance. The prize distribution began with Class 2 followed by class 3 and 4. 34 students of class 2, 45 students of class 3 and 28 students from class 4 were the proud recipients of the Scholar Badge awards. They were encouraged and applauded by the parents for their endless hard work and efforts that they had put in and had come out with flying colours.

REPORT ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA (21 ST JUNE, 2018)

The 4th International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21 st June, 2018 (Thursday) at ANNEX AV auditorium at Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, Kolkata. The Programme started at 11:45 a.m. and continued till 12:25 p.m. Ninety students from classes 4 , 5, 6 and 7 participated in the programme. The programme started with the Introduction on “International Day of Yoga”. The programme schedule incorporated different yogic practices. The practice session started with the chanting of OM. The Yogic practices included:-

Reverence 2017-18

The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony , REVERENCE , was held on 5th May 2018 . A huge number of students from Classes 2 to 12 participated actively in different events . The students who had secured outstanding results in the session 2017-2018 were felicitated. The programme was a huge success and was unanimously appreciated by parents and the guests.

On the sunny winter morning of 21st December 2017, around eighty children of classes 2, 3 and 4 participated in the Christmas Special Assembly and ushered in the true spirit of Christmas through their colourful performance.

The programme started with the singing of Christmas songs followed by Principal Ma’am’s speech.Children of class 4 chose to deliver a special message on Christmas and its significance.Children of class 3 kept the audience rapt in attention when they performed wonderfully in a skit based on the Christmas theme. Tiny toes of class 2 children tapped to the tunes of Christmas song- What a lively performance it was!The programme drew to an end with a medley of Christmas carols being sung followed by the speech of the honourable Chief Guest.

On 11th December, Delhi Public School Ruby Park,” in association with the Calcutta Debating Circle, hosted the International Inter school debate which marked the beginning of the” Festival of the Spoken Word. The motion of the house was “The Virtual World is consuming the Real World” and the moderator chairman was Mr. Raju Raman, an ace debater himself. Both the teams consisted of 3 members from DPS Ruby Park and 2 members from visiting schools, which included Mayo College (Ajmer), Model Westminster (UK), Boston College High School and NPS (Singapore). After a fierce battle of words which lasted for about 1.5 hours, the motion stood defeated. Both the best speakers for and against the motion were from DPS, Jatin Agarwala and Ishaan Sengupta respectively. The judges heartily congratulated each student and complimented them for their commendable performance.

Delhi Public School Ruby Park has been a pioneer in hosting the Interschool Pre – Primary Fest “Abhivyakti”, involving children from classes Nursery to 1.

Abhivyakti started in 2010 and there has been an overwhelming response in the participation of schools right from the beginning. We have 15 schools participating this year in four innovative events – Tell a Tale, Rhyme Time, Number Racing and Hand and mind. Children of participating schools will get ample opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity.

The fest began at 9.00 a.m at the Senior School with the lighting of the lamp and welcome speech by the Principal, Mrs. A.Ghose.

The event was a grand success with DPS Ruby Park winning the Abhivyakti Trophy with maximum number of stars followed by DPS Howrah as the first Runners Up and Ashoke Hall Girls Higher Secondary School in second Runners Up position.
